Black Monday 2009 | Amazon

November 22, 2009 | John Lessnau | Comments 0

Black MondayUntil about 1999, each Christmas season I would head to the local shopping mall for about 5-8 hours of hard core shopping trying to getting all my shopping done in one day. I dreaded my yearly mall trip and starting in 2000 I have done 90% of my Christmas shopping on the Internet. The UPS man is my new Santa Claus.

Since I shop on the Internet, I have missed out on the Black Friday mania that has swept the nation this decade. Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving and some amazing but very limited availability sales are always available. In recent years, according to friends and family that participated, a trip to the mall on Black Friday was like going to battle. Last year people actually were  killing each other over the deals.

To compete with this shopping mania, many online stores are now participating in “Black Monday” which is the Monday before Thanksgiving. Thankfully (pun intended), my go to online store Amazon is having a Black Monday that starts at 12:01 A.M. on Monday 11/23/2009. Go to the Amazon Black Monday page and bookmark it so you have it handy, the best deals go the fastest. Most importantly, don’t buy stuff just because it’s a great deal like a vintage Pet Rock that no one wants, but who knows, you may find a deal on something you really do want to buy for someone.

Many other online stores besides Amazon are having online sales. If you know of an online store with some good deals this Monday, please list it in the comments. Good luck and happy bargain hunting!
