09/18/2009
In the Web analytics industry, there has been an ongoing debate for some time over whether analytics is easy, hard, complex, or both hard and complex.  Certain thought leaders advocate for each categorization.  My take on it is “it depends” on the tools you are using, the site you are analyzing, your company’s requirements, your team’s skill set, and the processes you define for analytics.  Let’s dig a little deeper into each of these concepts: Your tools .  While Web analytics tools all share

Cisco conducted one of the first comprehensive studies of the factors associated with successful adoption of network-based collaboration solutions . You can use the study results to maximize your return on investment from today’s online collaboration tools. One way is to implement business practices shown to lead to more enthusiastic collaboration. Another is to identify and then actively support the employees who are most likely to benefit.

Closing In On Launch, Twitter Tweaks Its Retweet API And Shares A Picture Of How It Will Look In the Twitter API Announcement Google Group today, developer Marcel Molina posted a couple interesting updates about the upcoming Retweet API. First, the launch of the new API is “close at hand.” In fact, Molina notes that users may already be seeing the new style retweet/status messages from users who are currently testing out the feature. Second, and more importantly, Twitter is making a pretty significant change to the API prior to launch.

A lot of people are coming around the idea of organizing and producing African content for the African population. Online this has taken many forms like Afrigator the African Aggregator, and Maneno the African multilingual blogging platform. Afrikeo has joined the fray trying to help organize all your African content under one platform, which as an idea is wonderful but  implementation wise is dodgey. Afrikeo does this by acting like a blog aggregator which pulls content from all over the African blogosphere and news site and then presenting it for people to view.

Marketing For Real Estate Agents – How It Worksriverfrontpropertyandhouses.com
09/18/2009
The landscape of marketing for real estate agents has changed quite a bit over the past number of years. This is largely because the real estate market has become very competitive. Many smaller realtors are just not able to compete and they are forced to close shop. Those who are doing a good job and making profits are doing so because they have good marketing techniques. Even the big boys in this industry are looking to some of the small fry for various reasons.

These days, I’m working with a small company that basically helps TV stations to adopt the latest technology. The latest technology in broadcasting is digital and “tapeless”. Gone will be the days when films, shows, and commercials were recorded onto video tapes and ultimately stored as such on endless shelves in the basement (see picture). Tapes will be replaced by computer files and the basement shelves by a few fancy hard drives.

So, perhaps youre a chiropractor who decided to purchase a fancy and costly website, believing that this would magically drive new patients through your door. My guess is that a practice management group was the mastermind behind this fruitless scheme. Are you still struggling month to month, and paying a bundle on inefficient marketing? Youre not alone, because in my experience almost all chiropractors are digging this same grave. Thats because without traffic to your website, you dont have a website.

Akopo is a blogging platform which raised heads when it was launched a while back. It is a blogging platform for the French speaking African community, which we have run into once or twice. The best description of Akopo is from whiteafrican which states Akopo , a blogging, chat and games platform, was created by another fellow African blogger: Nino . It was created using the LifeType open source blogging platform, and seems like it has quite a bit of traction (hopefully Nino will fill us in on the numbers).

by Mark Bradley It has been just a month when you made this decision of using Twitter social marketing to market your real estate business. You finally made a big step to get your slice of pie and share with the benefits that other businessmen are getting. As you noticed, a lot of them became successful on using these social networking sites which seems to be the latest tool in business nowadays. More and more people get a lot of benefits through these sites. One of the famous social networking sites nowadays is Twitter.

Earlier this week I attended the EMEA user conference of Service-Now.com , probably the leading SaaS pureplay vendor in enterprise IT service management. Co-founded by former Peregrine Systems and Remedy CTO Fred Luddy, Service-now champions a Web 2.0 approach to systems management, an approach that’s often described as the consumerization of IT. But watching Luddy’s opening presentation, it struck me the term is a misnomer.

In a recent AdAge column, Steve Rubel of Edelman wrote an excellent essay on the increasing power of pull that led me to think about how our mix of push and pull services can serve public relations and marketing professionals in these ever-changing times. There’s no doubt that the world of information dissemination is shifting.  Previously dominated by Push (think Television, Radio, Newspapers, and Magazines), where information is relatively scarce and blasted out to wide audiences, we’re now

Cashback available — I’ve been trying out Microsoft’s new search engine Bing, mostly out of curiosity, and partly to see how alternatives to Google feel for everyday use. Naturally, one of the first queries I conducted was an ego search. The results are reasonable enough, but what really caught my eye is that I am for sale. Given the tough economic conditions, I’m glad to see that I’m even available with a cashback incentive. Act now, quantities are limited…. ( read more )

Twitter real estate is becoming more and more popular because the numbers of companies being crazy with this social networking site are increasing. Many of those companies find real estate blog networking marketing effective in endorsing their company to almost all of the people in the whole world. It is a rule that if your site has a lot of audience, your Twitter real estate site is considered doing well. Once you become a Twitter user, it is your responsibility to make more people follow your updates.

p2pnet news view Music | Politics:- Well I finally figured out who Lily Allen is. Truth be told, I’d never heard of her before a recent p2pnet article [ Lily Allen disses P2P file sharing ] about her sucking up to Britain’s Lord Mandelson and his doomed-to-failure fight against ‘piracy’. Let me be very clear here: the fact that the mainstream media’s latest “flavor of the month” fails to understand p2p, copyright reform, or ‘free culture’ in general shouldn’t surprise anybody in the least.  Celebrities are supposed to be vapid and willing to repeat whatever their corporate paymasters want them to repeat.

After my previous post on Free and Law Firms , a new thing caught my attention in this area. In that post, I focused on some ways that the legal services industry is adopting some of the models Chris Anderson describes in his book. WhichDraft is a resource that allows users to build a variety of high quality contracts free of charge. Users build contracts by answering a series of simple questions. WhichDraft then provides sample contractual provisions.

The “Did You Know?” videos have been a hallmark of Web 2.0 presentations and blog posts for a few years now, with their cool music, astounding statistics, and nice animations. This year is version 4.0, and this time, it feels much less surprising, and a little less focused. Is that because the future is now mainstream? Is it because we’ve changed?(Thanks to Jill O’Neill of NFAIS for the pointer.)

It’s a great way to start the day by firing up your RSS reader, and finding out what the people you are stalking following are talking about. One of my recent finds has been Blagger ( www.blagger.co.uk ). No, it’s not a freebees website. If you want that go to www.moneysavingexpert.com . What Blagger is is a blog about becoming self sufficient, but in a gradual easy going way.

A couple of years ago we saw the real estate market crashed and burn. People were losing homes to foreclosure for non payment due to loss of job. Right now, times are starting to look up again and so is the market. Many people are coming out of the woodwork as realtors and making a decent living doing it. Online real estate marketing is one of the best ways for you to achieve online success! You may not realize just how much people are utilizing the internet. More people today are looking at and buying homes over the internet.

Publishing to the web has never been easier, with the proliferation of content management systems, online blogging platforms, microblogging, and more. However, publishing data is either the preserve of organizations prepared to manage their own IT, or requires individuals to sign up for one web 2.0 service after another. RDFa provides a straightforward means by which data can be published as easily as a web-page can, and the implications are enormous.

Keep It Simple, Stupid : A Guide To Useful Web Design - home-business.resources-information.com
09/18/2009
Keep It Simple Stupid Simple website design is a vastly underestimated tool in a web designer/marketers arsenal. Keeping a web page simple and uncluttered has benefits on both aesthetic and practical levels. The rise of interactive Web 2.0 sites, the need for endless plug-ins and add-ons can often deter less experienced users from a site before they have the chance to make use of anything it has to offer, so it is always important to think of you target demographic before deciding how to go about constructing your site.

Search Engine Spam (SEO spam) - blog.karentsui.com
09/18/2009
What is SEO Spam? Most of us think of spam as junk email. Search engine spam is different. Search engine spam is any means of manipulating search engine spiders to artificially boost a website’s page rank or positioning on search engine results pages. In other words, search engine spam is any tactic employed by site owners to fool search engine spiders. Not a good idea. What is and isn’t spam? Every search engine has its own definition of what constitutes search engine spam so, in essence, spam is whatever search engine geeks say it is.
