2009 Business Goals

December 27, 2008 | John Lessnau | Comments 7

I don’t do New Year’s resolutions but I like to set business goals each year and see how many I can hit. Normally, I just write them down in my notebook, but now that I have this blog finally rolling along I will post them for everyone to see.  Anyway, public disclosure  increases the pressure to succeed and will make for a nice follow-up post a year from now.

Here they are:

Goals

  • Reach 500+ readers of this blog (I have edged close to 50)
  • Increase daily page views of this blog to 1,000+ per day on average. (Currently averaging 400 page views)
  • Build twitter followers to 1,000+ for @john_lessnau
  • Create at least one new revenue stream
  • Launch a Social Media web business
  • Complete a ground up facelift and rewrite of LinkAdage.com
  • Double Revenue at Link XL [ Sold Business ]
  • Build up my Digg profile so that when I submit something I have a chance at a front page Digg
  • Financially survive the continuing economic downturn

That’s all I have, it doesn’t seem like a long list, but if I hit most of these 2009 will be a very successful year.

Looks like we have the same first goal, and I guess I should have added your fourth goal to my list, but I didn’t. I have five goals on each of my 3 blogs, very ambitious for the most part, but hey, without a goal, you’re just existing.

Okay, well this isn’t exactly what I meant, but a thanks to you anyway… a manifesto of my goals in starting a new process/project/exploration called GWD. Getting Webwork Done. See what you think. http://bit.ly/GWD-webwork

I sent ya a trackback and gave you a thanks for the charge up!

Also, question: what plug in are you using to parse your posts and give them the pretty “read more” footer? THX

You are inspired! And you have triggered a GTD impulse in me to blog it all down, MY 2009 goals, and put it out there. As you say, putting it out there generates a momentum just in that act.

Well done. I’ll trackback when I get my post up. Thanks again for the charge.

The secret of creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

I get about 800 views a day & I’m a lazy blogger too. I shouldn’t be telling but Here are my 3 sources.

    1) Cleaner and Crawler friendly CSS for better SEO rankings.
    2) Tags and Social website publisher plugins.
    3) Stumbleupon.com!

Yours is a comprehensive and interesting blog. I have no doubt you will reach your goal. I’m in the process of linking to it from mine. One of the keys to more readers is adding links to favorite sites. The traffic increases exponentially and the community expands. In many ways we are all still learning. Here’s to a Happy New Year and meeting goals!

I like your blog. Maybe I’ll be #50! I hope you achieve your goals for the year. I’m still working on mine but will be posting them on my blog shortly. I agree that making goals public increases the pressure. And in a good way. Happy new year.
