My First Week On Twitter

For me, the jury is still out on Twitter. While there is the occasional nugget of information from industry insiders. Most ‘tweets’ are fairly inane (..just woke up) or spammy (…finished my latest e-book, check it out). The twitter game seems to be to get as many followers as possible and throw an occasional link in your tweets to your latest blog post or website.

I’ll give Twitter a few more weeks before I make a decision to stay active, become a lurker, or just log off. I am concerned that as Twitter becomes more popular it will be just another spam entry point. I am also concerned it that it will waste my time. For example, Guy Kawasaki sucked me into reading about an 8.8 meter tape worm and then giving him a free link in this post. Different users will have different experiences with Twitter so I still recommend that you check it out and discover how it works for you.

About the Author: I create web sites and web services that are evolutionary and revolutionary because there is too much warmed over crap on the Internet for my liking. AND if I hear one more person that twitters and blogs call themselves a social media marketer I will blow my brains out.

I have to say I like Twitter. I’ve only been on it a few weeks, but I’ve already made some good connections.

  2. I really like it. It’s not really a direct marketing tool, but it’s definitely an indirect money maker.

In other words, I wouldn’t expect to make many sales, if any at all, by announcing launches etc. but I know for a fact it’s an excellent way to find a coder, graphics guy etc. in literally seconds…I’ve done it multiple times.

Networking and Outsourcing…I’d say those are the two big benefits of Twitter.
